our team

We believe the actions of each individual impact our planet, and that collectively, we are stronger. We believe that seeking justice in the name of our one and only Earth enables justice for its people, and extends to communities everywhere the opportunity to survive and thrive. With that in mind, learn more about the people who bring you One Earth Film Festival.

Angelica Perez (She/Her)

Dominican University Intern

angelica@oneearthcollective.org

Alongside helping with the film festival, Angelica is currently concluding her final semester of undergrad at Dominican University. She is someone who appreciates the nuances of life, especially through their portrayals in film and written narratives. For the past couple of years, Angelica has intentionally concentrated on how pieces of writing or images can be used to uplift the voices of others. The written word has allowed her to nurture embers of curiosity across genres and topics. Angelica is looking forward to librarianship in the hope to directly maintain these spaces that invoke wonder in some of their purest forms. She believes our experiences within themselves hold a sacred place in collective efforts to foster respect and empathy. Angelica loves to spend time with her cat Edna all while listening to a band she’s never heard of before but was intrigued by the illustration on the album cover.

CESAR ALMEIDA (He/Him)
Marketing Manager

cesar@oneearthcollective.org

He believes that the definition of environment is not only limited to the birds, trees, bees, and leaves but expands to the places where we eat, live, learn, and sleep. Cesar also owns a marketing and advertising company that helps artists and entrepreneurs connect to the outdoors. He hopes to eliminate the barriers to inclusive, just, and sustainable access to greenspaces and economies across Illinois through transformative programs and services that promote the preservation of the environment, recruit a diverse workforce to the energy sector, and activate green spaces.

joanna@oneearthcollective.org
Joanna plays her part in restoring harmony in our ecosystem by using a bicycle as her primary mode of transportation (when weather permits!). When she is not out and about, she works for domestic and international NGOs, increasing their capacity to raise funds to bring community projects to life. JODI WINE (She/Her)
One Earth Collective Board Member
Legal Counsel
Partnerships and Venues Support Team, Fundraising

jodi@oneearthcollective.org
Jodi is a strong believer that only by building public will to protect our planet will we create the political will necessary to implement effective environmental policy.  As Gregory Mankiw said so eloquently in the film Before The Flood, "Politicians, [even if] we call them elected leaders, are really elected followers. They do what the people want them to do. Once the people are convinced, the politicians will fall in line.”

JOSHUA BYNUM (He/Him)
Digital Communications & Program Support Coordinator

joshua@oneearthcollective.org
Josh is an environmentalist with a specific interest in racial justice and food. He firmly believes that we only have one Earth, and if we continue down the current path, we will simply have no place to go. Josh joined One Earth this year as a new member and hopes to use digital advocacy to foster community, drive, and advocacy both within and beyond the Chicago region. In his spare time, Josh enjoys watching anime and is a frequent visitor to the nearest forest preserve.

LISA BIEHLE FILES (She/Her)
Young Filmmakers Contest Program Director

lisa@oneearthfilmfest.org
lisa@oneearthcollective.org

Lisa uses corn meal gluten and beneficial nematodes on her lawn instead of conventional pesticides. She also shares a compost bin with her neighbors and is beginning to experiment with native plants. Her raised-bed vegetable garden was filled with heirloom tomatoes this year, resulting in delightful omelettes, salads and ratatouille. In the spring, she had purchased heirloom seedlings from the esteemed Tomato Lady, who works at Sugar Beet Food Co-op.

Lucinda Armas (She/Her)

Development Coordinator

lucinda@oneearthcollective.org

Lucinda is a self-described optimistic realist. She believes any significant, planet-changing headway requires solid strategies, collaboration among sectors, and . . .  money! She enthusiastically joined us because she sees One Earth Collective as proof of her trifecta theory. Lucinda’s excited to partner with One Earth Collective on the “money part" -- raising funds for the One Earth Film Festival. She has worked extensively in integrated marketing, development, and strategic research in multiple sectors.  One of her biggest thrills (at least professionally) is pairing credible data and standout creative to make the world a brighter, more beautiful place.
